A short home movie made by Arthur Forman of his daughter Trisha’s first communion taking place inside St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in the Middlesbrough suburb of Acklam. The film begins with her getting ready for the ceremony assisted by her mother Margaret and features other boys and girls also having their first communion inside the church.
In her parents’ bedroom Trisha Foreman kneels at a dressing table holding a set of rosaries praying with her communion outfit laid out on the bed beside her. Assisted by her mother Margaret Trisha gets ready putting on her dress and veil before posing with her hands in pray as she slowly walking around the room.
Inside St. Francis' Church the parish priest places wafers into the mouths of boys and girls as part of the Communion Ceremony, amongst the girls is Trisha. A nun watches over the children as they wait to go up to the communion rail.
At the end of the service the children leave the church beginning with the girls who walk out mainly in pairs followed by the boys. Again, a nun standing in the background watches over them all.
