Screen Time Bradford: Evaluation

8th October 2026

Screen Time: Bradford, which ran between May 2025 and May 2026, was a contemporary collecting project designed to create a moving image legacy for the Bradford district. It was made possible thanks to the BFI National Lottery Screen Heritage Fund, awarding National Lottery Good Cause funding.

The project was timed to coincide with Bradford UK City of Culture 2025. This year of celebration and creativity provided a significant opportunity for us to launch our first focused contemporary collecting campaign.

Screen Time invited Bradfordians, filmmakers, content creators, and community groups to submit born-digital films created over the past two decades, representing life, events, and stories across the district. Submissions ranged from mobile phone footage capturing everyday moments to recordings of significant occasions, as well as creative documentaries exploring social issues and uplifting local stories.

In total, the project archived 486 diverse digital films, now preserved for future generations.
