Join us on 9th October 2026 for Screen Time: Facing (Up To) the Digital Black Hole, to explore lessons learned, case studies, and practical insights from a pioneering contemporary collecting project in Bradford.

A reflection on our Screen Time project, this special online session will share insights, lessons learned, and case studies from the year-long project. 

Screen Time was Yorkshire Film Archive's first focused contemporary collecting initiative, creating a moving image legacy for Bradford during its landmark year as 2025 UK City of Culture. Through community engagement, strategic partnerships, and digital preservation, the project acquired over 480 films reflecting the lives, stories, and experiences of people across the District, significantly broadening diversity and representation within the Archive’s Collection.

Aimed at heritage and archive professionals (not just those working with film), the event will build confidence in collecting and preserving born-digital material, with opportunities to ask questions and share experiences.
