Yorkshire and North East Film Archive unveils new five-year strategy

Yorkshire and North East Film Archive's over-riding commitment to preserving and creating access to the widest range of audiences has earned us industry awards and a reputation for being forward-thinking and innovative.  Building on our success as one of the UK's leading Regional Film Archives, the new Strategic Plan 2025-2030 outlines our future vision and direction, with a clear sense of purpose as we continue to save and celebrate the Regions' Screen Heritage.

The release of the Strategic Plan 2025-2030 follows the appointment of new Archive Co-Directors Graham Relton and Megan McCooley who have developed the strategy and will lead the organization as it begins this exciting next chapter.

Four Pillars:  Reach, Relevancy, Responsibility and Resilience, lay the foundation for the Archive's ambition of growth and development outlined by five key objectives:

*  Ensure the Archive is an engaging and innovative organization and a cultural resource highly valued by all its users and stakeholders.

*  Grow and develop a collection that is representative and relevant to the rich and diverse people of Yorkshire and the North East of England.

*  Define a clear direction of travel for a new physical presence for the Archive.

*  Pursue options for a Digital Preservation Infrastructure that serves our preservation needs.

*  Develop and diversify our funding streams to ensure the financial sustainably of the Archive.

Graham Relton said, "Moving images have an enormous power to engage people, offering a more direct experience of history that helps create a sense of place, time, and community identity, real impact that makes our screen heritage relevant to today's audiences.  We remain ambitious to provide that opportunity to many more of the 8.2 million people who live and work in the two regions we serve, the rest of the UK and the world."

Megan McCooley said, " We are hugely proud to be the custodians of this significant and valuable public asset.  Over the next five years, we will need to continually adapt to the evolution of new technologies and the way content is being created, facing the challenges and embracing the opportunities for new people and communities to share in enriching and building a collection which is meaningful and resonant to generations for many years to come."
