This is a film made by Derrick Walton of a family holiday in Kent.
The film begins showing a large modern hotel and the ‘Post Horse’ restaurant and bar. There is a road sign for Denzil Road and the Willesdon College of Technology in Brent, NW 10. Traffic is going past, and cars are parked nearby to the college.
The film switches to a house, with the name of ‘Shillingstone’, with an elderly couple outside saying goodbye to another couple. There is a sign for the Swan Hotel and for the Kent gliding club. A glider is shown being towed into the air. A light aircraft is started and takes off, and the take-off and landing is filmed from on board the plane. A woman sits in the cockpit of a glider as it is manoeuvred into position. She is strapped in, and a rope gets attached to the glider leading to a light aircraft which tows it into the air, filmed from on board the glider. The surrounding view and the cockpit is filmed, as is the instructor. The glider is filmed landing from the ground and from on board. It is then towed back and the woman gets out. Then a man gets in a glider with just a single cab and is towed up, again the area is filmed from on board, as is the landing. The woman boards the catapult machine, and the glider is catapulted up, after which a tractor retrieves the sling.
Footage is taken from the front of a car as it makes its way through the city. Following this, the car is parked on a cliff looking down on the seaside resort of Folkestone. Two couples, an older and a younger one, walk down to the sea front where boats are harboured, and there us a fishing boat (FE 80) and a ferry. They buy prawns at Channel Fisheries. Holidaymakers walk along the seafront, lie on the beach and swim in the sea. They then visit the Ship Inn pub and take a walk high up on the cliffs overlooking the coast at Dover, with the ferry port and the white cliffs. A hovercraft arrives and another departs. There is some close up film of a bee. They walk past Birlington Lodge pedigree goat farm.
