Made by Dennis Leather, a member of Vixen Films and Stocksbridge Cine Club, this is a film of the Sheffield and District Steam Gathering at Oakes Park in September 1973.  The film is accompanied with Wurlitzer music as a soundtrack. Title – Sheffield and District Steam Gathering Oakes Park  Sept. 1973. The film begins with people arriving for the event on a sunny day, and buying tickets.  Visitors walk around the exhibits of vintage vehicles and steam machines, some of which are shown in operation close up.  There is also vintage agricultural machinery, including an old Ransomes harvester.  The film shows some of the signs for the engines, such as a Lister built in 1944 and a Bamford rapid corn grinder made in 1921, while another, ‘The Hired Man’, came from Iowa from 1914.  A highland band is playing in a field behind which stands a water tower.  Caravans and cars are parked around the perimeter of the field.  There then comes a display of old tractors going around the field in a circle led by the highland band and followed by the vintage cars, with people watching from the outside.  An old hay thresher and baler is seen in operation. Visitors look at an old Wurlitzer which is also shown in operation close up.  Children go on rides, including boat swings. There is then a display of model remote controlled aircraft.  This is followed by a tug-of-war between a steam traction engine and a long line of people on the other end of the rope.  Other steam traction engines are shown and the artwork on the Wurlitzer.  The participants start to pack up and visitors leave as the film comes to an end.
