The film opens with a picture of the Queen and the commentary stating: “We are pleased to welcome you to the Bolsterstone School Silver Jubilation celebrations held on Thursday 26th May 1977.” Children and adults sit around the lawn of the vicarage on a sunny day, where a woman is operating a reel-to-reel tape machine. Class 2 come out in pairs holding hands to dance the Durham Reel under the guidance of Mrs Marguerite Fish, which they perform while we hear the tune ‘Country Garden’. Then they do the Circassian Circle to Danish music. Then comes Class 3 under Mrs Fatsimo (?), beginning with the dance Four Behind Four and then the Virginian Reel, with a small girl, Sally Ashworth, daughter of the recently appointed manager, applauding. Next comes the turn of the infants under Mrs Gill Hobson and Mrs Judith Roebuck. They too perform various dances and games. Then the children give a gymnastics display. After this Mrs Fairs (? Headteacher?) announces that it is time to return to school. Inside the school the children are having a party. Afterwards the vicar speaks to the assembled children and adults. Then the things get cleared up and children leave at the end.
