Title - Bolsterstone Free School Tercentenary 1686/1986
The film begins with a view over a lake with sailing boats.
Intertitle – Playtime
Children play in a school playground dressed in 17th century costume on a blustery day. Some are skipping, some have hula-hoops, and others are chasing each other and screaming. After they are ushered back into the school building, chairs are put out and mugs are placed on a table in preparation. Children arrive with adults and all get seated. The children walk up to the table one at a time to receive a commemoration mug. They then sing songs to the accompaniment of a fiddle player. Some women, also in 17th century costume, unravel a maypole and the children dance around it while the audience claps. They then take a refreshment break before the older children do a musical performance, followed by country dancing. They all break out singing the traditional song Scarborough Fair. As they all get up to take more refreshment, the fiddle player continues playing and the film comes to an end.
