This is one of a collection of films made by Queensbury doctor Dr Allan Glenn of his family at home (Innisfree) in Queensbury and Little Horton, and on holiday in the 1940s. This is a film of a trip to famous sites in southern England.
The film begins with two women and a man walking along a country lane, surrounded by green hills. They reach Fell Hotel, overlooking a bridge crossing a river. Then back in the garden, there is a bird bath (uncle). There are close up shots of the flowers...

Then back in the garden, there is a bird bath (uncle). There are close up shots of the flowers and butterflies. The family pet black dog, Laddie, sits next to the family pet green parrot (Gimme) in a cage.

Intertitle – A Gloomy View of Clovelly
The film looks down the steep main street, packed with visitors. The family car is parked in a country lane with a man and a woman cyclist passing.

A woman walks along a coastal path leading to Tintagel, and down onto the rocks.
Intertitle – Sunshine and Shadow – Towards St Ives.
There is a panoramic view of the landscape and coast.
Intertitle – Land’s End with the Wolf Lighthouse.
A woman sits on the shore looking out to sea and the lighthouse on Roch Island, with the sun going down.
Intertitle – Tin Mines in the gloaming
Several tin mines are shown close together. The film switches to show a cathedral, then a woman at the bottom of a hill with a fortress, and a row of old shops with the Swan Hotel.

There is a panoramic view of the landscape.
Intertitle – Donnington Hall – I think!
A woman walks around a timber framed Elizabethan house, with a garden with lots of flowers. A man walks up to the front door.
Intertitle – The Victory Arch
There is a view of Wellington Arch, overlooking Hyde Park Corner.
Intertitle – On to Whipsnade
Here we see wolfs, grizzly bears, bear cubs, polar bears, lions, tigers, camels, llamas, pelicans, parrots and other animals. This is followed by more film of the Kent countryside. Then to a town, with a large castle on a hill in the distance, followed by lambs in a field.
Intertitle – Apple Blossom
There is a field full of apple trees in blossom, and a woman and a boy come by on horseback.
Intertitle – Canterbury Cathedral
The film ends at this point, before footage of the Cathedral.
