This is a film made by Mexborough Technical College teacher George Spurr of a family having a day out walking on the moors in Derbyshire in the early 1960s.
The film begins with two boys sitting on the fence at a railway station on the Grindleford and Hathersage line, as a steam locomotive arrives pulling a train. When it stops many passengers disembark. A family group is then seen walking through a wooded area and stopping for a picnic near a stream on the moors, with a kettle boiling on a camping stove. They head off walking again over a rocky area. Led by two boys in blue jumpers the group set off over the moors. They stop again and have some hot soup scooped into cups by George. The film finishes with one of the boys playing with their pet corgi.
