Title-A film about the Barnardo’s Helper’s League
The voiceover says that once a year in Guiseley, there is a party for members of the Barnardo’s Association.
Some children file into a kitchen, smile at the camera and place models of a Dr Barnardo’s House beside the sink. In another room a group of girls are having competitions to walk along the length of a room with books balanced on their heads; a man and a woman are with the children.
In another scene some women are gathered in a room with some girls who pose and smile for the camera. Some of the women are chatting to each other and then the shot cuts to show a long dining room table nicely laid for a party; on the table are flowers and chocolate biscuits.
The voice over continues on to say that else where a group of helpers count the money and re-seal the collection boxes.
A group of men and women sit at a table and empty the Barnardo’s House money boxes and then count the money. They add up the totals and then glue a new bottom onto the money box so that it can be used again.
A woman leads a group of children into the hall where the table is laid for a party. The adults stand around helping to dish out food while the children eat and smile at the camera.
She continues on to say that after the party awards are given to the children by the President of the Association, Mrs Kimber. She awards them badges and pen knives.
After the party, many of the children shake hands with the older woman and then walk away. There is a brief shot of a magazine called `The Open Door’ and then a shot of the Secretary and the Treasurer sitting at a table and co-signing a cheque.
