Title-Bradford’s Own `Open’ Trial for `The Allan Jeffries Trophy’ June 19th 1948.
The film opens with a shot of the `Moor Top, Highland Hotel’. Crowds of bikes, cars and people have gathered outside; motor bike riders take off along the road, passing spectators.
Title-Out of `The Styx’ in pouring rain…
Some riders make their way along a grass track and through trees, in the direction of the camera.
Title-Far Leys Splash-Easy!
Competitors ride into a rocky stream and pass a waiting judge. One rider’s bike cuts out on the grass and he tries to start it and this is followed by a group of riders who struggle to get their bikes up a section of moor land; there is a brief shot of Mrs Wood as she smiles at the camera from the side of the moor. Another man struggles up a very muddy section of moor.
Title-And that top step!!!
The following section takes place on a wide, open section of moor land. The competitors ride along easily until they come to a rocky step at the top; one by one they get stuck, including one woman rider. Some of the competitors get stuck in the mud. In the next section is a sequence of shots showing the competitors trying to get to the top of a rocky hill. They speed halfway up and then fall over or roll backwards; even a motorbike and sidecar take part.
