Part of the Ibberson Collection, this film documents some of the downtime during the International Chambers Committee Congress which took place in Switzerland in 1947. The film includes extensive footage of the scenic landscape in and around Montreux and Geneva.
The film opens with a scenic view of mountains and countryside surrounding a body of water. There is then an exterior shot of the Montreux Place Hotel. Two men walk towards the camera. This is followed by more views of the scenic landscape lit by the low afternoon sun. Again, two men walk towards the camera. There are shots of men and women, all smartly dressed, and perhaps delegates of the conference. A somewhat large group of people are gathered outside on the deck area of the hotel. They mingle, chat and drink. There are closer shots of individuals.
There is a brief shot of two midwifes who push a large pram along the side of the street near the hotel entrance. There are at least six small children in the pram. This is followed by footage taken from the tram which takes passengers up the side of a mountain. Footage of the surrounding countryside as well as the track itself is included. The delegates exit the tram and make their way around the top of the mountain, taking in the picturesque scenes. The Vevet ferry passes by and docks on the lake to pick up passengers. There is then footage taken from the boat as it passes by the Eden Hotel and other riverside properties.
Next is footage of an open air market and street scenes of the city centre, most likely Geneva. This is followed by footage taken from a train. Different cottages are shown as well as a small boat on the lake. A family poses on the front steps of their house and walk towards the camera as the film ends.
