This is a promotional film used by Sheffield Transport to illustrate their new buses designed to enable the elderly and people with disabilities or luggage to board their buses more easily.
The film begins with an elderly woman getting onto a bus with the narrator stating that, when she was young, she used to do the splits at the Alhambra. When a bus comes she is unable to get up the high step onto the bus, and so it moves off without her. But then another bus comes, a City Clipper 700 to Sheffield, and this has a button operated by the driver to lower the entrance enabling the woman to board. To illustrate its point the film shows an elderly couple struggle to get up some small steps whilst walking along on a pavement. A ruler shows the platform of a bus being lowered by four inches using the airbag suspension. There is a demonstration of the 'Sensible Switch' which reverses the action if the chassis touches anything whilst being lowered. The woman again boards a bus, and it sweeps off with her waving and smiling through the window.
