Title - Bradford May Day Parade 1976.
The film opens with a shot of three mounted police officers leading a fairly large group of protestors down a street in Bradford city centre. The filmmaker captures the protestors as they move past, illustrating the fashion of the mid 1970s; the shot also shows a woman in black clothing handing out leaflets. A policeman then stands in the middle of junction diverting traffic, as the protestors approach. As the demonstrators passes again, a banner held by some of the protestors reads 'Bradford Trades council 1872'.
The filmmaker then captures the procession form above; a long, tight line of protestors move down the street flanked by policemen and a red pickup truck is also involved in the demonstration. The next few shots show the truck in more detail; a sign mounted to it reads the 'Tomorrows unemployed?' and there are kids sitting in the back. The demonstration continues down more streets flanked by policemen and this sequence includes more elevated shots as they march through commercial districts of Bradford.
The protestors then move past the camera at street level, and some of the homemade plaques read 'Stop the cuts' and 'Work or full pay', while a couple of the protestors gesture at the camera. The mounted officers can be then seen bringing up the rear of the protest, which moves through a street lined with orange flowers. More shots capture the procession of demonstrators moving through Bradford; a policeman walks in the middle of the street as the protest advances, and, as the camera pans across to show the scale of the demonstration, a sign reading 'University' can be seen.
More shots capture the children in the back of the red truck, before the procession moves to the entrance of an official looking building, where a wide fountain area is situated. Some of the lead protestors then give speeches using megaphones at the top of a set of stone steps, and some of the core demonstrators stand behind them, while the majority stand around the fountain. The final shots in this film are taken from above and show the protestors congregating by the fountain, listening to speakers.
