This film documents police firearms testing at a secure location in Yorkshire, as police marksmen test a variety of guns, gas canister launchers and CS gas.
The film opens with a close up of ammunition cartridges and a smoke canister. A man in blue overalls takes a few paces across a field before aiming his shot gun and firing. There are then close ups of the shotgun, after which the man in the blue overalls takes more shots, with one involving stepping out of a car and firing off a round at speed. Close ups then shows two spent shells of different gauges; the first contains many small pellets, while the other contains only a few large pellets. Shells are then loaded into the shotgun, and the marksman takes aims at the camera, before pellets are shown piercing a brown target.
More shots show the damage to the target taken from different ranges. Again a marksman aims the shotgun near the camera, and there are shots that show the damage the bullets inflicted on wooden targets. There is then a close up of a damaged shell. A close up of a board of wood shows that 'Slug 50yds' has been marked on next to an impact hole, which a hand then rests a ruler next too. The next shot shows the marksman's shooting a block of cement, which crumbles in half upon impact. A close up of bullet holes in a car are then shown, and the car doors is opened to show the bullets exit. Another close up of a shotgun shell is shown.
A marksman loads a gas canister into a launcher and fires in into a small mound, where it emits pink smoke. The next sequence shows the damage a smoke shell causes to a brown paper, as the surface begins dimple as the smoke percolates the paper. Another close up of a shell is shown, which has 'Ferret SGA-100 liquid C S' written along the body. A marksman then fires into a brown target, creating several impact marks. The filmmaker then captures the damage various shells have made to targets of different materials; in one instance a bullet leaves a perfect impression on a piece of wood, before bullet holes on target are measured with a ruler.
A bullet is fired at a glass window and travels clean through without smashing the glass. A man then fires a gas canister in the air, and the filmmaker follows it as it trajectory as soars high into the air, landing beyond a small hill. Several officers then take shots with a sniper rifle, firing at different targets. More shots show officers using various different weapons, and one weapon appears to be a World War Two standard issue infantry rifle. There is then a close up to the damaged inflated by the rifle on a metal canister. The final sequence shows an officer, who breaks open several doors using a small axe and chisel combination.
