The film opens with an interview of a senior police official, who answers questions about the man hunt for the suspected killer of PC Barry Taylor. The questions, asked by the director, centre around the investigation, and whether or not the police will use deadly force to bring this man to justice.
The next sequence shows the search for the killer. A group of officers talk to a young boy in a street; however, the shot is highly overexposed, making it very difficult to get an idea of the surroundings, or make out the faces. The officers talk to the boy before leading him off. There are then shots of officers walking along a street, while a helicopter can be heard flying overhead. Officers then climb over a barbed wire fence, including a policeman who holds a German Sheppard on a leash.
A line of officers the move down a street towards the camera led by a detective. The group of officers then check a garage and a canine unit is also present. Officers wielding pistols then kick in a door of a house and move inside, before the filmmaker captures them coming out again. The next shot shows a close up of a revolver as officers move through a grassy area. More shots capture officers walking down a road, and a child sticks his head out from behind a bush to get a good look at the camera.
The next sequence shows the suspected killer arriving at court. The road is covered in snow and several officers help to push a police vehicle up the last few feet to the courthouse. A crowd of police officials and press gather around the car as the suspected killer - wearing a blanket over his head - is hauled from the car and taken inside the building.
The final sequence captures the funeral. In a cemetery, police officers carrying wreathes walk past the camera. A priest then walks through two rows of officers, leading the funeral procession, and the filmmaker captures a shot of the coffin, which is carried by officers. Constables then march through a cemetery, past gravestones, and stop around the edge of a freshly dug grave. The final shots show officers saluting and another view shows an official, who stands with a church in background.
