Title - Kiwi's 1947 tour - the first test match. Leeds Oct. 3rd
Filmed in Kodachrome Natural Colour with slow motion sequences of the match filmed in monochrome.
There is a large crowd, mostly consisting of men. It is very busy and cramped. Three men stand linked, all wearing round glasses and hats. They and other men talk in a huddle. There is also a woman there in a brown hat and coat. A couple walk in the crowd with a young boy (maybe nine or ten) between them.
A bus arrives (blue). On the front top it says "Ledgard" and on the bottom "NZ Rugby League Touring Team 1947 Kiwis" with a silhouetted bird design. The Leyland bus is also marked "private". The players get off and then some sign autographs. A man is shown getting a tangerine out of a brown paper bag, passing it round some others, before putting it back in. Behind the bus there is an advert: "Tetley. Beer at its Best".
Title - Rt. Hon William Jordan - high commissioner for New Zealand - arrives with the chairman of the Rugby League council - Mr Walter Crockford - and the vice chairman - Mr Tom Brown.
These men walk onto the field.
The team come on; they line up and shake hands with people. Then the New Zealand team performs their Hakka. A policeman and a few fines sit on the edge of the pitch.
They play rugby, sequences alternating between normal speed and slow motion. The British and New Zealand flags fly over the stadium. There is a close up of an emblem stitched onto the pocket of a New Zealand player: "NZ Football League Rugby".
