The film opens with people who are milling around the stalls in Brookhouse School Sports Hall in Beighton. There are various stalls selling books, food and drink, clothing, toys and knick-knacks. On the stage there are a comic Batman and Robin doing a performance. They then pose for photographs with children. The draw for the raffle is read out by retired teacher Mr William Mallender.
