David and John, the two boys, come out of their house, with David pushing a wooden barrow he had made. They sweep leaves from the driveway and put them into the barrow. Their mother then helps them to make a guy, which they place onto their cart and take it off. They return with fireworks which they display. David makes a stand to put the fireworks on, as shown on Blue Peter. They then make a bonfire next to the greenhouse which had been damaged by recent heavy winds. Having made the bonfire they scrub some potatoes to bake on it. David makes some toffee in the kitchen. In the evening they tear up papers to get the bonfire going, putting the guy on the top. Ken Wilkinson lights the fire and then the fireworks. The bonfire at Ken Wilkinson's works, Brahmers at Halfway, Eckington, is also shown, with a large crowd watching the fireworks display. Back home the two boys eat chestnuts and baked potatoes at the dining table. The film finishes with a Guy Fawkes cartoon made by David and John.
