This is a film from the Taylor family collection. It shows scenes from the early years of the two children from the 1930s, playing at in the countryside and in their garden. Note that the dates in the title are misleading, as all the film is from the same date.
The film opens with a small boy and girl by a tree. Nearby there is a church, with views of the surrounding countryside. The two children are joined by their mother, and they go wandering through some woods looking at the spring flowers in the fields. They have a look in a building where there is a farm with pigs and piglets. The film switches to Girl Guides lined up in their uniforms with cloth caps. They march along the street, passing the shop of E. Turner. Then they are in the family home back garden, where the small boy is dressed as a cowboy, and his sister as a female sailor. The girl dons various outfits and does some skipping around the garden and other pantomime dances. She also poses with her Girl Guide's uniform, and does the salute. Four children in the garden slide down a slide made of planks of wood. They stroke a very tame bird, possibly a song thrush, and a toad hops into the bushes.
Then the father appears in the garden with his cricketing outfit on and pretends to be a batsman. On a sunny day a group of children are playing in a paddling pool in the garden. Later the boy and girl walk by a stream, and both play with a Bolo Bat (a bat with a ball attached with elastic). They scramble around the rocks of the stream, picking up pieces of wood, and climb up a tree.
The film switches to an outdoor swimming pool, where the boy is being helped to swim by his father. Then they are sitting at a table, with the adults having tea and the two children with bottles of pop. Back at the swimming pool the two children are larking about with their parents and swimming. Then back at the garden, the girl has a funny disguise on, and the boy is digging a hole. On another occasion in the garden they are stroking two small pet rabbits.
The film switches again to a fishing dock, where fishing boats are coming in and out. The family go out to sea on a boat, where they pass a fishing boat, 'Mewa XV Govnia.' They pull into a fishing port where a fisherman is making adjustments to his sail. The children are then on a beach playing on the sand and the boy pokes his head through a lifesaving ring with 'SCED' on it. The boy plays with a boat cart and then plays on the rocks. The two of them then go out on a boat being rowed by their mother, before doing a spot of fishing near some ducks. The boy runs along a pier and the two children go down a slide before going back to the swimming pool.
The film switches to the two children, wearing their school uniforms, down by a stream which runs into a river, where they are joined by their mother. They sit by the river and have tea, after which they climb a tree and up a steep wall. Back in their garden, two boys, have placed an upturned chair onto some small wheels, are using it as a go-kart. Three women sit looking on. The boy and the girl then play in the paddling pool.
Next, the two children are tobogganing down a snow covered slope. Back in the garden the boy is with his sledge, before the film shows the spring flowers in bloom. Then the boy and the girl pose by a car in their school uniforms. The mother and her daughter walk down some steps before being back at the river, and as the boy is eating an orange the film comes to an end.
