Passengers board a 'Special' bus, with an advert for 'Dr Dulite', in Sheffield bus station in Pond Street. The bus heads along City Road out to the new Norfolk Park Estate. The commentary claims that, "pleasing to the eye are the new footbridges," which are seen going across the roads and passing the new tower blocks. Leaving the Estate, it reaches Elm Tree, turning right onto Ridgeway Road. The film shows some of the new Estate before moving on to the Waterworks Tower at Norton, where a cricket match is in progress. The board for Services at St James' Church at Norton is shown, and the nearby memorial to Sir Francis Chantry. The journey leaves the ring road at Norton and continues along the main road towards Chesterfield and on to Low Edges. Here there is more new housing development, showing the lawns, gardens and flower beds.
The film switches to a group out horse riding at Bradway. Then on to Dronfield, Woodhouse, and Holmesfield, where there is a commemorative post marking the 1953 coronation, a pub and a church. Then on to the Peak District National Park and Longshaw Bar, and passing the old Coaching Inn at Foxhouse. The journey continues towards Hathersage, showing some of the scenery in the National Park. At Hathersage the tour takes a break for refreshment and a look around the village. A woman takes a walk down a country lane and across a field. Moorland House, a home for the elderly, is shown. On leaving Hathersage the bus passes the Millstone Inn and a cottage at the junction of Ringinglow Road. There is a stone marking an old toll bar at Stony Ridge. Just before reaching Whirlow, the tour takes a left towards Ringinglow. Here is the Norfolk Arms pub, next to the octagonal Roundhouse, a former toll house. From here it continues on to Lodge Moor and Maud Maxfield School for death children.
The bus then enters Bent's Green, turning left at Holme stores and on to Greystones, with views over Sheffield. The bus carries on to Eccleshall Road, arriving at Endcliffe Park. A vicar is seen walking along by the pond. At Sandygate the bus descends on to the Rivelin Valley, with glimpses of the new housing development at Roscoe Bank. At Rivelin post office the tour turns into the Rivelin Valley Road, with a nature trail, and a woman riding on horseback. It comes to a playground, with swimming pools and swings, before arriving at Malin Bridge. Here too there is a park, Hillsborough Park, with flower beds. Leaving the park the tour goes up towards Shirecliffe, passing under the railway bridge at Herries Road, through the developing Burngreave area, with views over the city. It returns to Pond Street.
