This is a film about the Hunslet Boys Club camp and includes footage of the young men going about the daily chores in the camp, their messing and joking with their friends and the places that they visit while they are at the camp. The club was established in 1940 by Dr. J. Wyllie as a way of offering young people the chance to improve their skills in areas such as sports, crafts, karate, and IT. It was an opportunity for recreation and friendship and the motto was "Fitness for Life".
A white tent has been erected in a field, and an older man and three younger men are standing at the opening. They notice the camera, and one of the men starts pointing at it. The same man holds another of the men down and pulls off his trousers and top, the young man escapes and runs off laughing. Another man tries to throw a bucket of water over him but fails to do so.
An older man, possibly a leader, sees the camera and pretends to swim. He comes out of one of the tents with another man. Next, the camp is dismantled by the young campers and the leaders.
Crowds are gathered at the sea shore; a lifeboat is launched down a ramp and sails a short distance out to sea. A short while later, the boat lands back on the beach and is brought back up the ramp.
Back at the camp, two men sit outside of a tent peeling potatoes into a pot. A young teenager walks across from a tent to a table to get some water.
A crowd of boys stand around a flag pole in the camp. The camera takes shots from around the flagpole and men, women and boys are gathered there.
Some young men are playing cricket in a field.
There are shots of a white, lighthouse with tour buses and cars parked beside it. A woman and the young teenager from a previous shot walk around the base of the lighthouse towards the camera.
Back at the camp, one of the campers puts a jacket into a basin. A second camper scrubs at the jacket, while a third one pours washing powder onto it. Other campers are around the basin, and they too scrub the jacket. There is another shot after this which shows some other young men scrubbing a table; one of them does a handstand on the edge of the table. The young men hold up the jacket and hold their noses.
There are two boys and one girl standing outside. The girl has a pigeon in her hands. This shot is followed by a brief shot of some boys on a beach.
In the camp, a young man wearing just his shorts has a bucket of water thrown over him. He chases them with a bucket. A man from the camp sits at a table and shaves.
A group of the campers wander around a town; they joke about, hitch up their trousers and pose for the camera.
A camper closes one of the tents, and this is followed by shots of the young men playing football. The film closes with a group meal. The campers all have a meal at a picnic table in the camp, and a man with a tweed hat helps to serve the food.
