Not A Hundred Miles from France
Produced by Michael and Harold Baker
A man walks towards Albert Quay and various parts of the Island are shown, with the commentary comparing it to France. The coach is parked outside the Merton Hotel, with members of the club making their way in to the hotel. The hotel has a large swimming pool. The film then switches to St. Helier, the capital, and the pedestrianized shopping streets. From here to Gorey and the Mont Orgueil Castle, the beach at St Aubin's Bay and La Corbi?re Lighthouse. At St Brelades children are jumping on trampolines and people are sunbathing on the beach. Next to the Howard Davis Park in St Heliere and to Jersey Pottery. There are views of the coast and the caves, such as 'Devil's Hole', where there is a statue of the devil.
They then visit the Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust, showing the flamingos and other animals. The plaque is shown for the Gaherty Reptile Breeding Centre opened by Princess Anne in 1976. There is an exhibition of animals made from flowers and other plants. There is a plaque dedicated to the men and women of Jersey who suffered in World War Two, with the commentary explaining the 'rat hole' where people escaped to. There are fortifications, and also a lighthouse, shown from on board a boat. They visit the war grave cemetery in Howard Davis Park and the German Military Underground Hospital. The film finishes on the boat sailing back to the mainland.
