This footage is from 1936 and shows Scarborough at different times of the year as well as the fishermen at work on the docks. There are shots of a Scarborough landscape covered in snow and also of Scarborough in the warmer months with crowds of people on the beaches.
The film begins with a brief image of a framed picture of a man with a suit and tie.
There is of a snow-covered road which passes by a large white building with a big, round pond in front of it. A man and his dog walk along the path. Another angle shows the large, white house from above, and nearby a frozen mass of water is visible.
Crowds of people walk along the promenade beside the sea; children, dogs and their owners.
There is a shot taken from the beach of a man at the sea shore and behind him, out to sea, there is a large cargo ship.
Another scene shows men working on the docks, sorting and shovelling material. A fishing boat sails into the harbour, and the shop fronts and buildings are visible behind the ship. The cliffs and the sea-front buildings can be seen through the masts of the ships. The pier is very busy with all of the docked ships, and further along the pier is a large building and a lighthouse beside it.
Two young boys wearing caps and coats gather up objects from the pier and toss it into the sea.
Two fishermen in tweed caps and jumpers mend lobster pots on the pier while another small fishing boat sails by with the crew busily working on deck.
