This film documents some of the festivities involved in the Smithy Moore Avenue street party in celebration of the Silver Jubilee. Title - Smithy Moore Avenue party for Silver Jubilee 1952-1977 Following the opening credit is a shot of a street sign for Smithy Moore Avenue, located in Stocksbridge, Sheffield. The cameraman looks down the road lined with houses, and there are many cars parked along the sides of the road. The houses are all decorated with bunting, and many of them have Union Jack flags and other royal-themed decorations in the windows. Everyone from the neighbourhood has gathered outside on the street. There are people of all ages who have come out to celebrate. The neighbourhood children participate in a number of foot races, and spectators are gathered along the sidewalks. Other races follow including a three-legged race for some of the teenagers and adults. Inside one of the houses, long tables have been set up for the children, and the tables are laid with cakes and other desserts. The inside of the house is also decorated, and there is a large Union Jack hanging on the wall in the background. The neighbourhood children all sit down at the table to enjoy their treats, and they all wear party hats in celebration. The children's parents and other neighbours can be seen in the background. Later, some of them sit down to have a cup of tea.
