Part of the Freeman Collection, this home movie contains footage of a number of events during 1961 including a birthday party, moving house, leisure time in the garden, a trip to the seaside, and family life with the new baby.
Colour - The film opens with Susan eating breakfast on deck chair in garden. There is a shot of a tea pot and the picturesque sky. Later, Susan goes on the rides at the Bridlington Seaside. There are shots of a merry-go-round, Ferris Wheel, rollercoaster, and...

Colour - The film opens with Susan eating breakfast on deck chair in garden. There is a shot of a tea pot and the picturesque sky. Later, Susan goes on the rides at the Bridlington Seaside. There are shots of a merry-go-round, Ferris Wheel, rollercoaster, and elephant ride.
BW - At the filmmaker's home, people knock on the door. They are carrying parcels with them for Susan's birthday. Susan opens the door and shows them in. The woman and children have tea and cake at the living room table.
There is a brief shot of waterfalls and woods.
Next, two men are moving furniture out of the flat. They also carry with them rolled up mattresses and pillows. They then move the furniture into the new house at 3 Savage Road, Bridlington and use the aid of the Kiddson Removal Company.
At the new house, Susan plays on a swing with her mother and in the garden with her father. He uses a watering can to tend to the flowers. Holding a teddy bear, Susan walks out of the garden gate and down the street. Next, children are gardening, and Susan and boy climb up a ladder and sit on a shed roof before climbing back down.
Susan waits on a train platform as the train pulls into the station. She is then walking around a meadow. She crosses a bridge, and mining machinery can be seen. There is also more footage of the train yard.
Colour - Susan walking down the road and watches miners from behind a fence.
The next scene takes place at Wicksteed Park. Children are playing on many of the rides including the seesaw, rocking horse, roundabout, and swings. Later, Susan and her mother go on some of the amusement park rides including the Ferris Wheel, and boat rides.
BW - The filmmaker's wife is in bed where she is holding her son, Robert, a day old. Next, Susan sitting by bonfire, and there is a fireworks display. The mother washes her son in a basin and then dries him off. Susan gets into the bath, and Robert is wrapped up in his pram. There is more footage of the baby playing with his sister.
Next, Susan is outside playing in the snow. She runs around and plays with her sledge. This is followed by more footage of the new born baby inside being looked after by different family members in the living room. He is dressed in his christening gown.
Colour - Robert is outside in a pram, and Susan is nearby playing in the garden. Then she and her mother push the little boy on a tricycle. There is more footage of the children playing outside.
Next, the family goes to the seaside. Susan changes into her swimming suit on the beach and run to the sea with her friend. The girls play and splash in the water, and the children play with their father in the sand. The film closes with more footage of the family playing with Robert in the back garden on a sunny day.
