This film is a work of comical fiction, which includes a live studio audience (or possibly canned laughter), and elaborate sets. The filmmakers are supposedly parodying an infamous TV commercial; however, it is not made clear by what commercial it has been influence. Taken from the Nestle collection, there is much speculation surrounding its origins, and the archivists at the Nestle archives have suggested that it could have been used as a lunch time film for employees at the Rowntree theatre, or as an inspirational source for a new Halloween product.
The film opens with a short choreographed dance routine performed by several dancers on a relatively bare stage. The dancers jive enthusiastically to the big band music before falling to the floor just as the song reaches its crescendo.
The film then drastically changes mood as a dark door with 'Room 13' on it is shown. As the camera pulls back, there are eerie laughs and a man wearing a suit steps out from the shadows; he states that inside room 13 (also known as the Ghoul room) there are otherworldly sights and strange phenomena. From his piece to camera it is clear that what we are about to see in 'Room 13' is a parody of an apparently well-known TV commercial, although he does not directly confirm what TV commercial it is. The camera then moves past the man and enters 'Room 13'.
Inside room 13 there is a row of marble columns and a woman in a wedding dress wails. The woman is quickly joined by a monster (not to dissimilar from Frankenstein) and a witch; they perform a comedy sketch together discussing the whereabouts of a character named 'Martin'. They allude to something called 'a bosker', which is explained as a fresh grave ripe for robbing. At the end of the film, 'Martin', a well groomed man in formal attire, appears with two skeletons and states "I couldn't resist them".
