Title - Rothwell War Memorial. Unveiling Ceremony Sunday 11th November 1923. Taken exclusively for this Theatre by The Gaumont Company Ltd.
Rows of men and soldiers are lined up, standing to attention as the two head officers inspect them. The group of soldiers and men march behind the two officers in the procession. Some of the men carry wreaths of flowers as a marching band follows behind them. Following the marching band are the women and children also carrying wreaths of flowers. After the marching band, the cadets follow in the procession carrying poles and flags. Crowds of people stand in the street watching the procession pass.
Crowds of people are gathered around the War Memorial to listen to the priest's speech. Union Jack flags cover the memorial and are removed to reveal the statue of a soldier. People take it in turns to lay wreaths of flowers at the foot of the memorial. (Honour the Fallen the Great War 1913-1918.)
