Title: We will write our own stories As a young man walks through a darkened theatrical space he talks about their being characters everywhere changing to a young South Asian man who believes there is a lot of creativity in Bradford. As someone uses a drill to screw a screw into a wall a young South Asian woman steps outside the theatrical space talking about how people who are working class have really big stories to tell and that ideas are starting from scratch. As another South Asian man sits in his open top car, the South Asian man seen previous talks about his plans to redevelop Bradford. As the man in the car drives around more aerials of the city as him explains that while others slowed down during the COVID pandemic Bradford didn’t and was able to adapt. As a smartly dressed black man carrying a suitcase walks around Centenary Square, another man talks in voiceover about Bradford’s history of entrepreneurial or innovative spirit. In a local tailor’s shop, a suit being made changes to the South Asian man in the car now standing in a park looking down on the city explaining how Bradford is now the second most entrepreneurial town in the country. Aerials of Cartwright Hall with a young South Asian woman walking through its grounds talking about not only showcasing Bradford’s amazing history but also its future and potential. As she walks over and looks at a poster on a wall, another woman talks in voiceover about working in partnership with other organisations and trying to do more work with local communities. More aerials of Bradford changes to another South Asian woman walking along a path talking about helping people relearn what Bradford is really about. Title: Bradford would know itself better Returning to the South Asian woman walking through the grounds of Cartwright Hall who talks about bringing people together and Bradford being a City of Sanctuary. Over an aerial of Bradford City Hall a man talks in voiceover about the city being like an oasis. Title: Living life better A car pulls up to the Bradford Interchange changes to a different South Asian man standing between two goal posts on a playing field talking about his goal being to create a better life for his children. A young black woman looks at the camera she explains in voiceover that Bradford is precious to her before returning to the South Asian man on the playing field smiling at the camera and explaining how he was able to start from the beginning. Over an aerial of houses and streets a woman talks in voiceover about Bradford’s housing affordability changes to her drawing and talking about because rents are affordable, she was able to take more risks. She goes onto talk about building and selling herself in a creative district. Over a montage of the streets around the centre of Bradford, the woman talks about how the city is a good filming location As a woman walks along the aisle of a theatre, the image changes to the smartly dressed black man seen previous and the woman talking in voiceover about the opportunities City of Culture gives Bradford and to make sure every single person in the city engages with arts and culture. As an older South Asian man walks along a road he speaks with a young man standing in the doorway of a shop in Bradford city centre. From an upper floor window, a view of the street below with someone explaining this is the heart of Bradford. An art-deco clock inside an old department store with the woman artist seen previously now walking through it explaining that it is now fifteen studios for independent artists like her. Title: Making the most of what we have As two young women arrive at and head inside Common Space a third talks about places that seems as almost redundant and recognise the community always has a use for a building if they can get access to it. As the two women take a seat, another black woman turns on the lights in another rooms before talking to camera about seeing the potential in the space and the lives that could be transformed. As the South Asian man seen earlier in the car comes up a set of stairs he is accompanied by a young boy. As he looks out of the window down onto the street below, he talks about finding bigger opportunities. A woman standing outside another arts venue on Bradford talks about bringing art into communities and giving them the power to do things themselves. The film changes to a young woman walking past and talking about opportunities with the National Science and Media Museum while a second young woman walks through a city park where she meets up with a group of other young women including the woman seen previous talking about the National Science and Media Museum. In voiceover another older woman talks about how Bradford has lot of young people with a lot of talent with a lot to say. Title: Creating an explosion… an opportunity As the young women continue to walk through the park eating various ice creams, a South Asian man seen at the start of the film stating that Bradford is going to be the youngest city in the next five years. The young South Asian woman seen at the start of the film outside a theatre explains that Bradford is getting a lot of investment and people are seeing it as place to lean and grow. The two women seen going into Common Place talk about there being more opportunities in the city as they walk around the community space passing a handwritten poster that reads ‘The Revolution will be Televised.’ Another South Asian man talks with regards investment that it needs to be distributed fairly across the city. Title: Creativity thrives… in every corner of the district Title: Making the most of who we are In a sports hall a group of young girls taking part in a dance class with the woman leading the session speaking in voiceover about working in hard-to-reach communities while the South Asian man seen a moment ago explaining how an organisation needs a personality to make people trust and approach it. As the dance instructor talks about getting big organisation to come to Bradford to offer their service a montage of the Bradford district featuring the Thornton Viaduct before returning to the dance class and the woman explaining about the importance of making it meaningful and to reach people who want these opportunities. Following a montage featuring some of the characters featured in the film, the young South Asian man seen at the start of the film is back his car driving and talking about the need to show love in order to get love. Title: Network capacity A young South Asian man talks about networking while the young woman seen earlier walking through a park with her friends talks about Bradford being tight as a community. As the young women in the park pose together with their ice creams the film changes to the smartly dressed black man seen earlier walking around Centenary Square now talking about knowing why you’ve come to Bradford to do business. Back in the theatre a set of traffic lights are being constructed on site with the South Asian man installing them talking about Bradford being a land of opportunities. The older south Asian man walking through the city talks about how he sees how this could be one aspect of what culture could possibly be. Title: Having fun The two young women featured earlier walking through the park smile into the camera while in voiceover a young South Asian woman seen previously at Common Space saying it is so much fun, exciting and inspiring as well as a lot of hard work. Title: Think Big Another young woman smiles at the camera changes to the young South Asian woman seen earlier at the theatre believing that some ‘hot shit’ is going to happen.
