Title: Vince Virr
International Dance Artist
On a darkened stage dancer Vince Virr performs while talking in voiceover about dance being about movement and about freedom and expression as a form of communication.
As he walks around the centre of Bradford, he talks about his upbringing come from the Holme Wood estate. As he continues his walk, he is intercut with several montages featuring both still and moving images relating to how he became involved in dance, his training in the profession as well as his travels around the world performing in some fifty productions in twenty-two countries around the world. He talks about the importance of meeting amazing people who are constantly fighting to provide dance and creative opportunities and the beauty, power and magic of the art form.
As he continues his walk around Bradford Vince talks about how people are moving to Yorkshire from the dance world and how the COVID pandemic brought him back to the city which he describes as having an energy, beauty, potential and diversity. As he performs again on stage including from a rope he talks about how excited he is to be involved in increasing the visibility of dance and helping people become involved as he sees dance transcending cultural and language barriers.
