Filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic and released weekly for a year, a film about a farmer who reflects on his family’s heritage and explains the connection he feels he has with the land. Title: Man of the Soil 20/52 As farmer Michael makes his way to a shed where his tractor is parked, he talks in voiceover about the 800 years his family have been custodians of the land. As he works to turn recently cut hay in a field, he explains why he considers himself to be a ‘man of the soil.’ Coming to stand on the highest point of his farm he looks out across the rural landscape surrounding him talking about why he feels humbled and over empowered. Walking with a shepherd’s crook through a field of cows Michael begins to climb a steep hillside to a position overlooking his farm below. At the top Michael talks about how he is a part of life and how he was meant to be a farmer and livestock breeder. Title: “It’s like I’m hewn from the rock and I will forever be connected to creation.” Michael End title: www. 52Humans.com
