The eighth of thirty-seven short films produced by documentary filmmaker Tom Harmer as part of the 52Humans project. Filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic and released weekly for a year, a film about his wife’s aunt Lucinda Sieger who talks about why it is important for an artist to be childish and playful. Lucinda Sieger comes to sit at a table in the window of her kitchen, she looks outside contemplatively. Title: Life is Art 08/52 As she begins to draw a sketch on a pad, she explains that for her art is about expressing how she feels very deeply. A montage of some of her drawings with several relating to the Coronavirus pandemic while others feature the character Harriet which she talks about creating thirty-years previous. As she holds up one of her drawings featuring the character of Harriot, a character she created thirty-seven years previous, she talks about the importance of being playful as being totally liberating. As she poses withing a decorative frame she talks about being childish and how this brings out so much joy. A montage of images from a brush on a canvas, a narrow street containing houses with decorative fronts, a choir and the pyramids of Egypt with Lucinda explaining how everything was created by art. Lucinda kitchen table again with a page open on one of her drawing changes to her looking reflective again and an image of the globe appearing beside her with countries and continents lit up by lights. She talks about how art is ‘absolutely crucial’ to life. As Lucinda talks about wanting to in the moment not the future, she holds up a small Tinky-Winky from the Teletubbies toy with a smile. As she talks about the importance of the process rather than the final drawing, a montage of her illustrations in a book. Still sitting at her kitchen table Lucinda looks thoughtfully outside. Title: “The fun is creation comes from being playful.” Lucinda www. 52Humans.com End title: The copyright of all content relating to these drawings of Harriet belong to Lucinda Sieger © 2020
