The fifth of thirty-seven short films produced by documentary filmmaker Tom Harmer as part of the 52Humans project. Filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic and released weekly for a year, in this the filmmaker’s family go for a winter walk across moorland with wife Natalie explaining why she loves nature so much and what her children get from exploring it. Title: Soul Wilderness 05/52 As Natalie Harmer and her three children go for a moorland walk she talks in voiceover about how much she loves being outside in nature. As she gives her youngest Holly a piggyback ride and her two older children splash around in a puddle, she explains how much she loves seeing her children explore. The two older children laydown on a patch heather looking up at the cloudy sky and watches as a beam of sun cut through the cloud. As the family walk along a snowy track they have a snowball fight, Natalie talks about the ‘sensory experience’ of nature and being ‘totally immersive’ that brings a kind of ‘recalibration of the soul’ as well as a sense of calm and wellbeing. A smiling Natalie looking directly into the camera lens. Title: “Being outdoors restores my Soul.” Natalie End title: www. 52Humans.com
