Title: One Woman
In the Yorkshire Television studio presenter Marylyn Webb introduces a woman who in her own way has made history; Suti Duncan who on the 16th August 1982 gave birth to Britain’s second set of test-tube babies, and the countries first coloured test-tube babies. Over clips of Nathan and Natasha as new-borns in an incubator at Bradford Royal Infirmary, Suti talks about their birth and how happy it made both her and her husband Carlton. She goes onto talk about discovering that she was not able to have children and working with Patrick Steptoe, a pioneer in fertility treatment, who was able to help her become pregnant.
As Marylyn shows Suti a series of photographs featuring her family and Nathan and Natasha as they grew up alongside older brother Jamie who was adopted, she talks about her own sticked Sikhi upbringing in Kenyan and the family’s decision to move to Britian. She also talks about how her familyY have now completed rejected her following her marriage to Carlton whom they disapproved of. She also talks a little about some of the issues facing her husband who has faced controversies in Bradford where he is a headteacher. The interview comes to an end with Suti talking about going back to college to find her own identity and is asked if she has any regrets, she replies no as she is very happy.
