Over the course of the programme, Marylyn and Betty talk about her working-class upbring in Dewsbury, her early political influences and education, and her work in creating greater opportunity and equal rights for women including her time as the first chairman of the Equal Opportunities Commission in 1975. She speaks about its achievements and what still needs to be done. Betty ends the interview by talking about her retirement plans which include more work as a peer in the House of Lords.
