Title: Redcar and Cleveland Mind Women’s Cabaret Group presents
Nuts and Bolts
In a room at Redcar and Cleveland Mind five women from the Women’s Cabaret Group perform a song based on their direct personal experiences of metal distress, about being stigmatised but being strong as they are sisters together.
Four of the group Sue Whistler, Claire Fish, Shirley Hart and Wendy Bennetts talk about their mental health challenges, how they became involved with the cabaret group and what they get out of it. Wendy Bennetts also talks about the importance of International Women’s Day and how women today have more freedom and voice and how she is looking forward to performing for other women.
Women make their way inside the Redcar Bowl for the Redcar and Cleveland Women’s Day Festival, part of International Women’s Day taking place on March 7th 1998. Inside women and children sit around a stage on which the five members of the Mind Women’s Cabaret Group perform each wearing distinctive red Mind shirts.
