Pier Pressure
As young people arrive at an event taking place inside Saltburn Valley County Park they pass a young man DJing, a young woman juggling, a girl having her face painted and a man walking along a tightwire. Inside a tent young people spray painting fabric while outside two costumed characters walk past on stilts. Inside another tent or marquee, a group of teenage girls dance together in sync.
Two teenage girls are asked about their homemade costumes, they show-off the wings on their backs. At a table a young woman braids the hair of a girl while nearby a group of young people juggling.
A queue forms beside a table from which food is being served. A woman with a small baby watches as burgers and sausages are cooked on an open grill.
Inside another tent an audience watches as a group of teenage girls take part in a dance class with an instructor showing them how to do certain moves. In another larger tent a theatrical performance featuring two young men, one of whom is able to pull a rubber glove over his head.
Back outside a man helps a young woman walk along a tightwire while sitting nearby a small boy eating an ice cream listening to a local rock band perform inside another marquee. A group of mainly teenage girls sit at the back of the tent while others dance along to the music on a dancefloor.
At another smaller tent a group of young people play various percussion instruments in rhythm while in a larger tent a teenage girl works on making a costume. A costumed figure dressed as a fly walk past on stilts while in another tent a woman helps a small girl into a costume. In third tent another dance class while along Skelton Beck a man works on a piece of sculpture that is set up in the water.
With the rain now pouring crowds gather in the music tent where another a group of bluegrass musicians are performing for the crowd with one of its members races up and down the tent playing his fiddle amongst the audience. As the music continues a group of children dancing happily together while nearby adults jumping along to the music. The film changes to reggae and pop band now performing in the tent and a little girl walking up to and smiling at the camera. Around the tent people dancing along to the music while other sit on chairs listening.
As the band continues to perform, outside it is dust and the sculpture seen being built earlier is now alight with the flames creating the image of a dragon. A large crowd watch from the far banks as a fireworks display begins. As people begin to leave the flames on the dragon start to fizzle out while in the music tent the reggae band finish their last song.
