The film begins with a school sports day including some field events. Six runners take part in the race around the field track, and the runners make several laps around the field. The spectators watch at the side of the field, and some of them hold umbrellas. The sports day is followed by a carnival with various floats, children on horseback and in fancy dress. There is also a scout's marching band. The film closes with a visit of Durham Cathedral, and there are views from atop the cathedral.
