Title: PRO-CELEBRITY DARTS
Title: Fred Dineage
The programme opens with presenter Fred Dineage welcoming viewers to the location of the programme, the Ladbroke Dragonara Hotel in Leeds. He explains that over the next three months 8 professional players will face 8 celebrity players in this pro-celebrity darts competition. He says there are two competitions one exclusively for the professionals, and the pro-celebrity tournament which they are starting with this programme. He then outlines the details of the cash prizes for the professional players.
A list titled ‘The Pro-Celebrity Darts Knock-Out’ appears in view and shows the names of the players in the tournament.
Scottish darts player Rab Smith teams up with news reader Reginald (Reggie) Bosanquet playing against American darts player Nicky Virachkul and comedian and former professional footballer Charlie Williams.
Footballer Trevor Cherry joins Welsh dart player Leighton Rees who will play rugby international Phil Bennett and English international darts player Cliff Lazarenko
Actor Fraser Hines joins up with Sweden’s darts professional Stefan Lord. Darts professional Eric Bristow partners cricketer Freddie Trueman. Actor Diane Keen partners darts professional Alan Evans of Wales. A clip from one of her television performances is played
The world number one darts player John Lowe teams up with actor Liz Fraser, a clip from the black and white film ‘I’m Alright Jack’ is shown with Liz in her role in this famous film.
Fred Dineage introduces the two teams for the first match, Scotsman Rab Smith and newsreader Reginald Bosanquet. The audience applauds. Fred then introduces the American darts star Nicky Virachkul and Yorkshire comedian Charlie Williams. Fred interviews the players.
The game they play is ‘501’ where each team count their scores to zero as quickly as possible. Some practice throws at the dart board follow. The official scorer/referee picks up his microphone to start the game.
The professionals throw their darts followed by the celebrities. Rab Smith throws his darts followed by the American Nicky Virachkul. The scorer announces each player’s score after the three darts are thrown, the total is subtracted from the starting figure of 501. Reginald Bosanquet is the first celebrity to throw his darts followed by Charlie Williams. This sequence continues until a team wins and they do this by scoring a double score, which is on the outer ‘ring’ of the dart board. Charlie Williams shares banter with his fellow players and utters humorous asides which the audience appreciate. The American Nicky Virachkul wins the first leg for his team.

Charlie Williams, after distracting Reginald Bosanquet during the game, and Nicky Virachkul go on to the semi-finals.
Fred Dineage gathers the two teams together and interviews the losers and asks Reginald Bosanquet and Rab Smith about how the game went for them. He then talks to the winners Nicky Virachkul and Charlie Williams. Mention is made of Charlies ‘psychological’ tactics, Fred is impressed with his skill at the game.
