This film shows the Queen Mary ship in 1964. The footage captures the boat at the harbour and setting sail.
Outside the docks cars are lined up on the road as people walk past. In the distance the Queen Mary is docked in the harbour. Close to the ship its name appears in black writing. Men are working on another boat close by, pulling ropes together. Robert and his mother sit watching the boat and sailors collecting ropes. A commonwealth flag bearing the Union Jack is sailing at full mast on the ship. Other boats sail close by on the water and seagulls fly past the boats.
As the ship sets sail water gushes from beneath the boat and makes its way out of the harbour. At a distance the Queen Mary is sailing off over the horizon.
