A flatbed lorry carrying a Christmas tree pulls up outside St Thomas’s Church in Newcastle. As two men push the tree from the back of a lorry, another screws a bulb into the string of lights before wrapping it around the tree which rests on its side. With the lights in place all the men work to erect the tree beside the church.
In Victoria Square in Middlesbrough a group of schoolboys gather around a Christmas tree to sing carols. Civic dignitaries including the Mayor and Mayoress join them. Following the service the boys depart, with the dignitaries looking up at the tree lit by lights.
