Summary
The second edition of this Yorkshire Television series that showcases the best young musicians and dancers in the region presented by Roger Greenwood, Carol Vorderman and Martin Kelner. In this programme the Scala Kids of Bradford perform a version of ‘Summer Nights’ from the musical Grease, reporter Alan Hardwick visits Firth Park School in Sheffield to learn how a computer is helping their production of the Pied Piper of Hamelin and Roger Greenwood interviews Bradford born actress Kathryn Apanowicz about the trials and tribulations of getting into showbusiness. Kathryn is able to pass on words of wisdom to future West End star Claudia Bradley who also performs in the studio. In the final part of the programme Martin Kelner hosts the second heat of the Sounds Good Breakdance Challenge between Force Four from Huddersfield and Steel City Breakers from Sheffield.

Title: Sounds Good Presenters Roger Greenwood and Carol Vorderman introduces this week’s programme from a bar area drinking milkshakes alongside four dancers from the Scala Kids of Bradford. Following an introduction from Carol the programme changes to Sheffield Polytechnic Student Union where a large crowd watches Bradford breakdancing crew Mini-Force perform a routine. The performance stops when presenter Martin Kelner comes over with his co-judge in the Sounds Good Breakdance Challenge Winston Hazel of SMAC 19 to speak with Paulette from Mini-Force. She and Winston are asked why so few women take part in breakdancing and body popping; she believes it is because they are afraid of the hard moves. Returning to the studio Carol Vorderman introduces the Scala Kids who perform ‘Summer Nights’ from the musical Grease. Following the performance Philip, Emma, Jason and Paula from Scala Kids speak with Carol about being part of the group, their training routine and about their hopes for the future. Roger Greenwood sits at a BBC Microcomputer using it to flick through a theatrical script on the monitor. He introduces the next filmed report with Alan Hardwick from Firth Park School in Sheffield which is using a computer as part of their upcoming musical adaptation of the Robert Browning poem 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin'. On stage a group of 14-year-olds pupils perform a song from the musical changing to an interview with science teacher Peter Piper who has devised the software to create a computerised script and queuing system. He talks about how the system works and how it helps with the production. More scenes from the musical intercut with interviews with some of the cast being asking bout adapting the story to feature 1930s gangsters and one boy who hopes to become an actor after graduating. Returning to the studio Roger Greenwood interviews actress Kathryn Apanowicz about the strains of stardom and issues with becoming an actor and asks the question is it worth it? Following the interview Roger introducing another young performer, Claudia Bradley from Leeds, as she sings ‘Only He’ from Starlight Express. The song over Roger and Kathryn come over to speak with Claudia with Kathryn passes on some advice about getting into industry. Wearing a Yorkshire Television ‘Breakdance Challenge Champions’ tracksuit top, Carol Vorderman introduces the next item which returns to Sheffield Polytechnic where Force Four from Huddersfield and Steel City Breakers from Sheffield compete in the second heat of the Sounds Good Breakdance Challenge. On the dancefloor Martin Kelner speaks with Clive from Force Four and Michael from Steel City Breakers about taking part. The music begins and both crews perform their routine for the crowd. At the end of their performance Martin Kelner returns to the dancefloor and speaks with boxer Herol ‘Bomber’ Graham about the routines and to announce Force Four from Huddersfield the winners. Back in the studio Carol Vorderman and Roger Greenwood sitting again at the bar holding milkshakes provide details of next week's programme. Roger attempt to pour his plastic milkshake over Carol’s head, sitting next to them four dancers from Scala Kids. Over the closing credits the group perform a version of the Frank Sinatra song ‘Blue Moon’.
