A farrier is shown removing a horseshoe from the hoof of a horse using specialist pliers. He files the hoof with a large file. The farrier carves out the necessary parts of the hoof and shapes it appropriately with pliers....
This film shows the process that a farrier carries out to replace horseshoes. The farrier continues shaping the hoof with pliers and the file. He fits new shoes to the hoof using a hot shoeing method. Two farriers are shown continuing to shape the horseshoes on an anvil in the back of a car, which contains all the appropriate equipment. They are shown smoothing horseshoes on a sanding belt. The farriers continue to fit horseshoes to hooves, using a hammer and nails. The horse is shown tied to the wall via a rope on its head harness. The farrier stands beside him, sweeping the ground.
