The film follows four young people who appear at the start of the film to be troublemakers, but are in fact hard working and trustworthy.
The film opens showing a portrait view of a young man. A commentator introduces the young man named Mark. He has a heavy spanner or screwdriver in his hand which he uses in what might be a threatening way by hitting the palm of his hand. The words the commentator uses suggest that he would use violence to get what he wanted.

The next young person is Vicky, the commentary again suggests she maybe of a violent disposition. She seems to be standing over an elderly lady who has has fallen to the ground and Vicky is taking her handbag from her.

Still portraits of all four appear on screen In the centre of the picture a group of words appears which reads, ‘Just what you’d Xpect’ The ‘X’ is highlighted in red.
The film goes back to Mark who hands his screwdriver over to a tutor he is assisting in working on a car. Mark is signed up for a course in motor vehicle technology. The commentator says it’s a job he always wanted and he is keen to succeed.
An ambulance speeds along a street with horns and lights full on. Vicky is helping to make an elderly lady comfortable on a pavement as the ambulance arrives. A paramedic arrives and Vicky helps the paramedic put the woman in the ambulance. The commentary states Vicky likes helping people and she wants to be a nurse. Carrying the woman’s handbag Vicky is helped on to the ambulance to accompany her to hospital.
Next, Dan who runs towards the entrance of the Centre for Advanced Industry. He’s arrived to attends a job interview. A notice on the door reads ‘Job Interviews Today 10.00 – 12.00’.
Finally, Emma who picks up a syringe and a phial which contains liquid. She injects herself with insulin. Emma is a diabetic and must manage the disease with her prescription. She works at a home computer, but the commentator says she wants to study and hopefully go on to university. The commentator says her condition is no barrier to her ambition.
The four static portraits appear again, this time with the words, ‘More than you’d Xpect’ The ‘X’ again highlighted in red, this ends the film.
