Summary The second of two documentaries produced by A19 Film and Video Productions on Sunderland native Billy Bell who having amassed a large collection of photographs of the city now hold regular slide-show presentations. The film follows Billy as he holds one of his shows to patrons inside the Victoria Gardens public house in Sunderland. Most of the film features the images selected by Bill with him providing a running commentary. These are intercut with him at home talking about how and why he holds these shows. |

The Nissan car factory running alongside the A19 dual carriageway with traffic moving past at speed changes to a modern housing estate built near the banks of the Wear, on the far shore a quayside crane dominates the skyline. A resident comes out of his house getting into his car. From a modern business park, the river Wear in the distance alongside industrial dereliction.

A terraced house in a street, inside Billy Bell selects photographic slides for a presentation placing selected ones into a slide-projector carousel.

He places the carousel into a carrycase and leaves his home placing the case into the boot of his car parked in the street.
Title: No. 1 Old Sunderland
Inside the Victoria Gardens public house Billy loads the carousel into a slide-projector, sitting around him an audience. The presentation gets underway beginning with a black and white photograph of a large country house built for Mowbray family in what is today Mowbray Park in Sunderland. Back at home sitting beside his lightbox Billy talks about how he got into giving slide-shows. The film cuts back and forth between Billy’s presentation featuring either his commentary or music and him at home talking about how his collection started, how he puts a presentation together and the reactions he gets from those who see his shows.
Billy’s presentation comes to an end and the audience applauds. Back home he takes the carrycase from the boot of his car taking I back into his house.
