A large banner for ‘The Sensational Dancing Waters Grey’s Monument Newcastle’ changes to Grey’s Monument itself lit up at night. A crowd gathers around its base to watch a display of synchronization music, light and dancing water.
The display comes to an end and presenter Gregor Jamison, who is holding both a brochure for ‘Dancing Waters’ and a microphone in his hands, provides details about the show stepping behind a barrier to speak with Klaus Earhart from West Germany who was at the controls of the display. He is asked about the origins of ‘Dancing Waters’ and how it works. As Klaus explains its operations, he takes Gregor into a shed beside them and show him how the controls work. Another brief performance of ‘Dancing Waters’, the camera panning away from the crowds to Klaus sitting at the controls.
Interview with Alan Hilary, Promotions and Events Officer for Newcastle City Council about how ‘Dancing Waters’ came to Newcastle. He explains it is a Christmas feature to complete with the recently opened Metro Centre to attract shoppers into the city.
The film ends on another performance of ‘Dancing Waters’ watched by a large crowd.
