Women in Georgian costumes walk along a busy street in Alnwick changing to the town crier wearing a red jacket standing on a stage ringing a bell. A man dressed as a redcoat soldier leads a woman onto the stage and places her on her knees.
More costumed men, women and children mingle with those in contemporary clothing. One costumed man carries a sandwich board that reads ‘Hospital Friends’.

The town crier makes a proclamation to the crowd and a redcoat soldiers bring another young woman onto the raised platform. She sits on a dunking stool and is lowered presumably into a pool of water.
On the street the executioner seen early uses a fake cat-and-nine-tails to whip someone off screen. A bagpipe player performs while walking up and down the platform.
A small boy in a kilt poses and walks down a street along with other costumed characters. A musician plays guitar and sings while on a stage a boy performs Scottish dancing.
A crowd gathers around a man on a horse, a woman strokes the animals mane. A man with his head in a set of stocks changes to a group of Morris dancers performing in the street.
Crowds continues to walk past various stalls; a costumed boy eats an ice cream. On the stage musicians performing followed by them Sword dancing. Crowds continue to enjoy the fair and a man dressed as a redcoat solder passes pushes a large box on a barrow. He comes to a stop and the film ends on him wiping his brow.
