The older woman watches over a teenage girl who is holding the safety rope for a boy who is abseiling down the rockface. Other is the group watch. Presenter Harold Stapleton abseils part way down the rockface to address the camera about the importance of safety and being at a place where they believe the right way is also the place for fun.
A countdown montage featuring a series if different YHA logos for each second. A second montage featuring young people taking part in various activities such as sailing, white-water rafting and cycling or inside a hostel playing snooker or cooking in a YFA kitchen. Some of those featured explaining why they enjoy taking part.

A rural landscape changes to Howard Stapleton steeping out of a YHA hostel. He explains that YHA is changing having spent millions of pounds on developing and improving their facilities. He walks across the gravel driveway talking about how YHA is now specially equipped for group needs. A montage featuring maps and various different type of YHA hotels in rural and urban settings is followed by Howard explaining that the film will look at the experiences of visits to three hostels; Bristol in Avon, Boggle Hole in North Yorkshire, and Llangollen in Clwyd, Wales.
In a kitchen toast popping out of a toaster and young people enjoying their breakfast in a dining hall. Interview with a group leader from Lancashire who provides details on his group of 11- to 12-year-old boys. As he talks positively about the facilities at the hotel, the boys getting up, getting dressed and having their breakfast. At the breakfast table some of the boys look at a map. Outside at another hostel interview with a second leader about why the location of the hostel is ideal for his group changes to a classroom of older teenager taking part in a class.
Howard Stapleton explains briefly that the new YHA is about learning safely while having fun, a montage of young people taking part in various classroom activities both around the hostel and further afield with some of the participants explaining why they like it.
Standing beside a large window Howard Stapleton explains that the new YHA can offer complete packages featuring classroom facilities, catering, and instruction. Pages from a brochure offering prices and images form specially selected locations ideal for group visits. A copy of ‘Datapack for Group Leaders’, a brochure providing details of inclusive packages offered by YHA at no risk.
In the basement of Bristol city hostel a leader speaks with members of his group made up of older teenagers. A montage featuring the group having breakfast with some of them explaining what they think of the holiday and what they’ve gained from it.
Outside a group climb into a minibus followed by a montage of three different groups going about their activities. Howards joins one group staying at Boggle Hole as they go abseiling while the group in Wales conduct a survey work on a sandy beach. The city-based group visit a hotel, market and fire station in and around Bristol.
A montage of images from the YHA’s ‘Groups Away’ brochure that include images of young people taking part in activities such as potholing and micro-gliding. Howard joins a different group in Wales as they go white water rafting. Back in North Yorkshire a group there go mountain biking and pony trekking while in Bristol a group visits a radio station and another beach where they conduct a survey into beach life. Howard and his group arrive back at their hostel wet but happy and excited. Some of them talk about their experience.
Howard comes to sit on a leather sofa with a cup of tea and provides further details about how the new YHA if focused on and ready to deal with any group and their specific needs while also providing value for money with new ranges of activities and facilities. He sits writing a postcard, ‘Wish you were here’ is written across the back.
The film ends on a final montage of images of young people taking part in various activities featured in this film.
