Two young men on bikes are shown cycling up a track, whilst two others are sat beside the track looking at a map. Both sets of people discuss directions whilst looking at the map. The cyclists continue their journey and the others pick up their backpacks, ready to also continue.
The backpackers walk through a series of picturesque scenes off the beaten track, arriving at a youth hostel.
A signpost reads ‘NUH’ [triangle logo] on one side and ‘NUH Ungdoms-herberge’ on the other.
The backpackers enter the hostel just as some female backpackers also arrive. The young men walk over to the women and help to carry their bags into the hostel.
A series of chores at the hostel are shown, including mopping, peeling potatoes, sweeping, sawing wood, building/digging, cleaning windows, painting the exterior and shaking off the doormat.
A train is shown against the landscape, followed by a bus.
Hostellers are shown walking on foot through the town, carrying backpacks.

One of the cyclists from earlier in the film is shown tending to his bike, which has a problem with the wheel. The cyclists wheel their bikes to a nearby hostel.
The cyclists hand in their hostel membership cards at the reception desk, as well as pick up sheets for the beds.
The pair enter a bedroom and make their beds, with some difficulty. They unpack their things, including leaving shoes outside the bedroom door.
The young men are then shown in the bathroom (one is washing his face whilst the other brushes his teeth), followed by one of them washing in the shower.
The two young men are then shown helping themselves to breakfast which is laid out on a table.
Danish women are shown sitting at a breakfast table, and then serving their own tea from a teapot.
A man in swimming shorts is shown diving into a lake, followed by others also enjoying the lake.
A group of young people are shown playing sports on a beach, including badminton and volleyball.
